India vs Bangladesh 1st Test Day 1: IND 339/6

The first test match between India vs Bangladesh was played today. The match was held at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Chennai, India.

The first day saw a mix of India’s brilliant batting and resilience. India batted brilliantly at 339 runs for the loss of 6 wickets at the end of the first day with Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja remaining unbeaten.

At sunset it was clear that India had made a strong start for the days to come.

Early Morning Conditions Favor Bowlers

There were clouds in the sky at the beginning of the day which gave Bangladesh hope. This pitch was good for spinners but initially it was moist.

Due to which the opening batsmen of the Indian team had to face a lot of difficulties. The Bangladeshi team took full advantage of this and had to face excellent bowling.

As the sun became stronger and the moisture of the pitch vanished, the Indian batsmen dominated.

A Steady Start: Openers Set the Tone

The Indian team’s innings started in a very positive atmosphere. India’s openers Rohit Sharma and Shubhman Gill tried to make a good start.

Sharma’s experience and Gill’s youthful enthusiasm helped them overcome the initial challenges. Both of them hit many beautiful boundaries in which Rohit found his feet with drives and flicks.

The duo used their combination of patience and aggression to tear apart the Bangladesh bowlers. Their 85-run partnership made life easy for the incoming batsmen and showed the importance of a strong Test opening partnership in Test cricket.

The Bangladesh Breakthrough in India vs Bangladesh

India was moving towards victory when Bangladeshi bowlers started creating havoc. Their first success came in the form of Rohit Sharma who was out on 48 runs.

His dismissal was a big blow to India, soon after his dismissal India got another blow with the dismissal of Shubhman Gill, who was out after scoring 34 runs.

Bangladesh bowlers led by Taskin Ahmed displayed their skill and determination. Taskin’s both-way swing troubled the Indian batsmen. He took 2 wickets on the day.

Middle Order Collapse of India v/s Bangladesh

As the Indian openers were returning to the pavilion, the entire batting pressure fell on the middle order batsmen.

They came to the field with a lot of expectations but they too were out after scoring only 23 runs. Virat Kohli’s dismissal was quite disappointing for India but his wicket gave birth to a new energy in the Bangladeshi bowlers.

The Indian team’s middle order faltered due to which at one stage India’s score was 159 runs and 4 big wickets had fallen.

The Unbreakable Pair: Ashwin and Jadeja

This had become a big concern for the Indian batsmen. Then the partnership between Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja changed the course of the match and once again the match started looking in India’s favor.

Both the batsmen displayed their best skills and ability. Ashwin looked carefree according to the nature of the situation.

He batted aggressively and defended brilliantly, kept the strike rate high and hit boundaries. Jadeja also supported him well in all this. Both of them together made such a partnership that strengthened the Indian batting.

At the end of the first day, Ashwin remained unbeaten on 92 and Jadeja on 65. They revived India’s innings and posted a huge score in the first innings.

Looking Ahead: Day 2 of India vs Bangladesh

On the second day of the India vs Bangladesh match, as soon as the players leave the field, all eyes will be on Ashwin who will be trying to complete his hundred and Jadeja will also want to support him and make a big contribution in taking India’s score higher.

India will be eager to put pressure on Bangladesh. Now if Bangladesh wants to turn the match in their favor, then they will have to break this partnership, they will have to dismiss either Ashwin or Jadeja.

Now the Bangladeshi bowlers will have to take the responsibility of breaking the Indian batting line-up.
