There have been many great players in India, it w as a tough job to select top 10 of them. All the players were the best in their time. In the coming times, there are many more cricketers who can make their place in this list.
In India, cricketers are given so much respect that cricketers from other countries find it strange.

Kapil Dev

Early Life and Career Beginning:-

Kapil Dev was born on 6 January 1959 in Chandigarh. He started his journey as a cricketer at a very young age. From a young age, he used to show his bowling and batting skills in matches.

Rise to Fame:-

Kapil Dev’s name came to the fore in 1980 when he gave a brilliant performance for the Indian team and he became a key player of the Indian team.

1983 World Cup Victory:-

Kapil Dev led India to its first ICC World Cup win in 1983. His good innings and leadership in the final match against West Indies led to a historic victory.

Records and Achievements:- 

Kapil Dev became the first bowler to take 400 Test wickets.

Kapil Dev has earned a name for himself in cricket. He is known for winning the World Cup for India with his brilliant game.

 

Sunil Gavaskar

Early Life and Career:-

He was born on 10 July 1949 in Mumbai. His wonderful journey in cricket started with the 1971 match in which he performed brilliantly.

International Success:- 

Sunil Gavaskar made his international debut by scoring 774 runs in his first ODI series. During his cricketing career, he scored 10,122 runs in Test matches and became the first player to cross 10,000 runs in that period.

Post-Retirement:-

He retired from international cricket in 1987 and has since pursued a career as a commentator, analyst, and cricket fan.

 

Sachin Tendulkar

Early Life and Beginnings:- 

Sachin Tendulkar was born on 24 April 1973 in Mumbai. He started playing as a cricketer from an early age. He started playing cricket from school and soon made a name for himself.

Tendulkar has made many records in his career such as he became the first player to score 10,000 runs in ODI and the first player to score 100 centuries in international cricket and he has made the most runs in both Test and ODI cricket.

 Tendulkar gave many memorable moments in his cricketing career like his innings of 241 runs against Australia, these moments took his career to great heights and made his name on the lips of every child.

Retirement and Legacy:- 

She retired from international cricket in 2013. She received tributes from around the world after her farewell match. Her legacy is more about the love people have for her than her records.

 

Virat Kohli

Early Life:- 

Virat Kohli was born on 5 November 1988 in Delhi. He started his cricket career at an early age. His talent was clearly visible from an early age.

Career Highlights:-

He started his career in ODI in 2008 and made his debut in T20 and Test in 2011. He is the fastest batsman to score 8000, 9000, 10000, 11000 runs in his ODI career.

Achievements:-

Virat Kohli played a vital role in India winning the 2011 World Cup. He played a brilliant innings of 83 runs with Gautam Gambhir in the finals against Sri Lanka and by 2018 he had become the highest run scorer in ODIs and Tests.

Captaincy:-

Virat Kohli created history in 2018-19 by winning the Test series against Australia on their grounds. He captained Australia in all formats of cricket and was successful too.

 

Anil Kumble

Early Life:-

He was born on 17 October 1970 in Bangalore. His Test debut came on 9 August 1990 against England and ODI debut came on 25 April 1990 against Sri Lanka.

Playing Career:- 

He was a leg spin bowler who took 619 wickets in Test matches and 337 wickets in ODIs. He is the second bowler in the world to take 10 wickets in a single innings.

Captaincy:-

He was the Test captain of the Indian team from 2007 to 2008.

Coaching Career:- 

He has also been the coach of the Indian national team and has played various important roles in cricket.

 

Rahul Dravid

Early Life:- 

Rahul Dravid was born on 11 January 1973 in Indore. He started playing as a cricketer at the age of 12.

International Debut:- 

He made his Test international debut on 20 June 1996 against England and ODI debut on 3 April 1996 against Sri Lanka.

Achievements:-  

He scored 10000 runs in his test career and 10000 runs in ODI and he also has a record of taking most catches in test cricket.

Post-Retirement:- 

He was also the former coach of the Indian team.

 

Virender Sehwag

Introduction:- Virender Sehwag was born on 20 October 1978 in Delhi. He is a notable personality. He has made a huge contribution in his field. His opening pair with Sachin Tendulkar was very famous.

Achievements:- He had a major contribution in the victory of 2007 World Cup T20 and he also played a very important role in the 2011 ICC World Cup.

He has scored 2 triple centuries in Test matches in his career and also holds the record for scoring the fastest double century in ODIs.

Retirement:- He retired from international cricket in 2015. After retirement, he started commentating in cricket.

 

MS Dhoni

Early Life :-

MS Dhoni was born on 7 July 1981 in Ranchi. Earlier, he was a goalkeeper in football in his school but later on, on the insistence of his coach, he started playing cricket.

Career:- 

On the insistence of his coach, he started wicketkeeping from the beginning but he also liked batting, so he worked hard and became a wicketkeeper batsman. And he also became India’s best finisher.

Achievements:- 

In 2007, he became the captain of the Indian cricket team and in his entire career, India won all three ICC trophies, so he is also considered the most successful captain.

Retirement:-

He announced his retirement from international cricket in 2019 but was seen captaining CSK in IPL 2023.

 

Sourav Ganguly

Early Life:- 

Sourav Ganguly was born on 8 August 1972 in Kolkata, he is also known as Dada.

Career:-

He started his career as a real  cricketer in 1992 by playing domestic cricket for West Indies but his true career took off after 1996.

Achievements:-

He was made the captain of the Indian team in 2000. After that it is said that he revived Indian cricket. He gave India many big international victories.

Retirement:-

She retired from international cricket in 2008, after which she became the President of the BCCI and a commentator.

 

Bishan Bedi

Early Life:-

Bishan Bedi a legendary cricketer was born on 25 September 1946 in Amritsar.

Career:-

His career started in 1966. He was one of the best left arm spinners of his time.

Achievements:- 

He was the best spinner of that time who took 266 wickets in 67 test matches. He captained the Indian team and made them win many matches.

Retirement:- 

He ended his cricket career in 1979. After retirement he became a coach and commentator.

All these cricketers have kept their names alive in Indian cricket history by making immense contributions to cricket. All these cricketers together showed extraordinary talent and gave a profound shape to this game.
